Sweaty and snotty

Humid days make for sweaty naptimes. Overworked this, especially the leg, but practice is practice.
Elaine has had a cold these past 10 days so we haven't been doing a lot. She's been doing her level best to infect me by pulling on my hair to get my face into the correct position, then making a super-cute face as if she's about to give me a kiss. Then, exactly as I open my mouth to utter endearments, she coughs spittle directly into my open mouth and eyes. One time she even managed to combine it with a sneeze, spraying me with snot and saliva, then lunging in to rub what was left on her face onto mine. Then she gives me a lovely smile. It's the dark side coming out! ;)

Umm...

...the part of my brain which is assigned the job of thinking up witty titles seems to be sitting with its feet up on the desk, drinking an coffee, flicking through 'Heat' magazine and saying, "I'm on a break...try the Wacky Thoughts department down the corridor." Sigh. Still, I'll press on regardless as Elaine's sensory toys (i.e. plastic freezer bags filled with dried beans and flour and sealed with packing tape) will only hold her undivided attention for so long.
It was my birthday on the 15th and Heidi brought me some lovely flowers. Did want to draw the whole lot but was quickly overwhelmed. This is as far as I got:
I didn't actually want to add the pen lines (I'd sketched in pencil) but it just looked like a big undefined mess without them. Now it's a slightly more defined mess.

Elaine is almost constantly on the move these days so it's a real challenge to try and capture anything:
I pretty much need to wait until she conks out:

Jubilee!

I certainly wouldn't describe myself as a monarchist or royalist but I do love a bit of pomp, ceremony and some fancy costumes. Plus, who/what would we have if not the Queen? Some dodgy president? Even Vivienne Westwood loves the Queen these days! So I'll definitely be settling down in front of the TV to watch the pageant on the Thames this afternoon. Here's my tribute:
